ARTIST'S BOOMERANG KITCHEN FLIES TRUE
When this painter wanted to remodel her home, the one thing she most wanted was to open up the kitchen to views of the lake and the greenery of their site. Nestled in the woods, on the north side of their home, it could at times be a bit light-starved. Accentuating that feeling was the laundry room on the back wall which blocked the morning sun from entering the kitchen. (As she put it, too often, she felt like having breakfast in the laundry!) Plus, there were wall cabinets hanging in her face which blocked her view of glorious lakeshore sunsets!

Landon drew upon his experience in SE Alaska, having designed and fabricated over 20 projects in Juneau and Ketchikan; his clients wanted lots of wall space on which they could display art -- their "view" during the long winter nights. He proposed eliminating all the wall cabinets, grouping the refrigerator, ovens and pantries on the east wall, and featuring one of the artist's paintings on a "gallery wall" in the center of the space.

The kitchen is now full of light and welcomes family and guests to gather.
Counters in granite, bounded by stainless steel edging make for easy maintenance.
Maple floors connect to the woodsiness of their surroundings.
