Designing for How You Imagine Your Home Will Feel

	Before ~ The bathroom felt cramped. ~ The room was unappealing as a powder room. ~ What you saw from the kitchen was a lot of the toilet bowl. ~ Limited storage and lots of bathtub toys.
	Wish List ~ A floor that could handle lots of water splashed on it. ~ A powder room personality even though it's the home's main bath. ~ Correct the previous owner's bath/stairway-to-the-basement remodel. (The five-foot long tub extended into the stairs, affecting head room.)
	Solution & Gains ~ Landon recommended changing to a 4'-long tub, styled in the character of the bungalow home. ~ Blending a family bath with powder room formality was achieved by: - Two furniture-like pieces that function as a vanity and vitrine, both usable for storage. - A wainscoat as a formal element, but executed in tile and limited to the service section of the bathroom. - Omitting tile behind the vitrine which enhanced the more formal aspect of the forward section of the bathroom. - Using marble for the counters. ~ Glass & mirror were used to visually expand and unite the room. ~ The arched top of the mirror draws the eye upward (away from the toilet) and is an effective backdrop for the Kovac's "Ripple" lights. ~ The three drawers in the vanity are all usable and fitted around the sink and drain. ~ The vanity was recessed into the wall to create more floor space. Master Builders of King & Snohomish Counties recognized this project as the "Best Bathroom Under $40,000" in their annual Remodeling Excellence (REX) awards, as submitted by Crescent Builds, the contractor.
