SPLIT-LEVEL SOLUTION!
Imagine how cloistered and confined these owners felt when this kitchen was walled off from the living and dining room and had an 93-1/2" high ceiling! By opening up the spaces, adding three new windows--including the glass block "window" behind the cooktop, playing with countertop levels (to reflect the ascending lines), tossing in a bit of whimsey, this is now an entertaining, functional space. The hardwood floors are bird's-eye maple. Cabinetry is in cherry. Note these features on the refrigerator elevation: the arc across the top of the doors and the arrangement of the drawers. Both illustrate how Landon's background as a cabinetmaker affects his spatial solutions.
