| The pictures tell a lot of the story!
To better balance the end of the room, Landon furred down the ceiling to
create a soffit. This better positioned lights. It also reconciled the
awkward angular chimney. By coming forward into the room, the old fireplace
could remain and the new one lowered. This gave room dimensionally for
the new TV and allowed us to recess it, as well. We also gained 30"-deep
pullouts for their CDs and DVDs in the drawer units that flank both sides
of the fireplace. A single piece of travertine forms the top of the hearth.
A former closet-like pantry became a working room with an oven and sink. This remodeled also affected the adjacent entry and dining room areas and created a separate gathering space to one side, focused on wine. |
